Free CPR Classes
I never thought I would be a CPR teacher…
I’m a meteorologist, NOT a medical professional, but then my daughter choked.
It was the scariest day of my life.
Fast-forward six years, and I’m so happy and proud to say that I’ve taught more than 500 people how to do CPR, how to use an AED, and what to do if someone chokes. I’m eternally grateful to my regular co-teacher, Heidi Voss. She is a local paramedic who reached out to me when I first told my story and started to encourage others to take classes. We quickly realized the barriers to learning these life-saving skills were quite easy to solve for.
(1) COST - Our classes are always FREE.
(2) LOGISTICS - We vary our class times, and can even work around your schedule.
(3) CHILD CARE - Families are welcome. Always.
Heidi has helped me and numerous others to realize how important bystander CPR is to the safety of our community.
YOU are a lifesaver. Let us teach you.
We hope that you will never have to use these techniques, but if you do - we know that you will be prepared.
Maui Food Bank
As a board member I strive to find innovative ways to raise money and awareness for the Maui Food Bank. The work that they do is essential to Maui County. The coronavirus pandemic has highlighted this like never before.
I wanted share some statistics with you from 2019 and 2020.
Prior to the coronavirus pandemic, 2,320,643 pounds of food were distributed in Maui County in a year.
In 2020, that number rose to 6,888,990 pounds.
At the height of the pandemic, 600-800 vehicles would line up at various mass distribution sites hoping to pick up a box of food to feed their family.
Prior to Covid-19, the Food Bank served 10,000 people a month. During the pandemic, that number rose to 48,000 people per month.
The need is great. Your help is greatly appreciated.
The best way that you can help the Maui Food Bank is through a monetary donation. Organizing a food drive is another great alternative. You can do that virtually online or actually physically pick up donations.
SHOP + SUPPORT
10% of my affiliate earnings will be donated to the Maui Food Bank.
Mahalo for your support!
Anyone that knows me, knows I prefer to buy second hand, and that most of my shopping budget goes to books, personal development, natural and sustainable products, and practical items. My “shop” page includes my favorite affiliate links to the things I can’t live without, plus the media equipment I’ve tried and tested (and fallen in love with) over the years. Most importantly, I have a section dedicated to local products that are “Made in Hawaii” - my small way of giving back to this community that is my home.
